Powers Winerydoes an excellent job at keeping great varietal wines affordable and accessible. Now they are providing a vintage dated, classic Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon you can serve in any situation that calls for big red wine. No more settling for generic “house red”. Each box of 2006 Powers Cabernet Sauvignon contains the equivalent of 4 standard bottles, and this environmentally friendly packaging enables the wine to stay fresh for weeks after opening. We make it easy to tap into great Washington Cab!
This blend of 55% Goose Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Coyote Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Milbrant Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Pleasant Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cougar Vineyard Syrah fairly bursts with aromas of sweet raspberries, ripe currants, and vanilla spice. The flavors are dominated by a broad spectrum of fresh market berries laced with exotic spice. The wine explodes across the palate and continues to linger with decadent sweet fruit. A pretty mouthful, and a beautiful value!

Stephen Tanzer’s Wine Enthusiast 92 Points – “Pale medium yellow. Stony, floral nose hints at spices and tropical fruits. Quite perfumed and precise in the mouth, with a subtle saline character adding nuance to the bright flavors of lemon, pineapple and spices; showed a floral fragrance that reminded me of riesling, or muscat. The firm, harmonious acids really frame the wine and carry the fruit. Finishes bright, strong and long.

Wine Spectator 95 Points – “Deliciously complex, full-bodied and layered with flavors, offering citrus and tropical fruit, with hints of anise and buttery oak, yet the acidity keeps the flavors tangy and vibrant. Drink now through 2012. 1,300 cases made.” (12/08)
Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine 94 Points - ” Seemingly the deepest and most energetically balanced of the exceptional Ramey trio, this wine is a touch simpler in its central character and a bit sweeter in its fruit. It is going to have great appeal for uses with the less briny, small oysters and with fish like Dover sole than it will with more savory foods, but it is a lso likely to find greater range over time, and may turn out to be the longest lived of the Ramey trio.”
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar 93 Points – “Light yellow-gold. Highly perfumed aromas of lemon pith, green apple, wet stone and honeysuckle, with subtle oak spice adding depth. Weighty orchard fruit flavors are given bite by citrus zest and pith qualities, with a gentle leesy character emerging on the back end. Offers a striking combination of power and finesse, and finishes impressively precise, with excellent spicy persistence.”
Robert Parker 91 Points – “More lemon oil, hazelnut, and smoke are present in the 2006 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard. Full-bodied, fresh, and lively, it is an outstanding effort.”
